Reflecting on 2018 so far…

August is a notoriously quiet month here at Little Mill House, so quiet in fact that by the end of the month I start to think that being employed is a much better option than being self-employed and browse the Linkdin jobs section (it’ll never happen, I’m a terrible employee!). I know this is just a quiet time of year and I know it always picks up again once kids are back at school and holiday season is over, in fact September through to Christmas (yep, I did just mention the C word, sorry for the lack of pre-warning) is generally the busiest time of year for me both with work and in our home life, so I’ve been taking advantage of this slow month to plan ahead for the rest of 2018 and reflect on the year so far…

I’ve been very lucky in that some really great interior design projects have come my way this year where I’ve had full creative control and freedom to create amazing spaces for my clients both locally and remotely (my ÂŁ75 room design package is going from strength to strength). I’ve also been commissioned to work on some pretty meaningful projects too, which is lovely, they aren’t quite at the same scale as DIY SOS but they still make a difference nevertheless.

One of the huge highlights of 2018 so far was being selected as a finalist in the Grand Designs Live roomsets competition at their London show, I didn’t win the final trophy but getting that far was reward enough.

Another thing I’m grateful for is that you’re still interested in this blog! As micro bloggers pop up all over social media I often have a panic that my readership is going to drop. After all of these years blogging  is still my main form of relaxation and inspiration, I love creating content and I’m always so happy to see that people are reading it. Once of my goals for next year is to start blogging twice a week again, I dropped down to once a week in January due to work/life commitments but truth is I miss it! So I’m planning to get more organised and plan out content so that I can write twice a week as much as I can in 2019.

One last thing is that I’ve been nominated in the Amara Interior Blog Awards this year and I’d be so happy to make the shortlist (very unlikely as I’m up against some huge names with lots of followers). I’d be so grateful if you could take the time to vote by following the link below, it only takes a minute & your data won’t be used for marketing. Also every voter will be entered into a competition to win a Leica SOFORT Camera. Thank you in advance for voting (and thank you for reading to the bottom of this rambling, sentimental post).
